Why You Should Vary Your Rep Ranges
If you’re like many people, when you set the goal to start making some changes in your health and fitness program, one of the first things that you do is look at how to go about designing a proper program.
You likely line up exactly how many sets you should be doing, which exercises will work best to meet your needs, and have a look at the best amount of weight as well as reps to perform per set.
Then once you have your game plan in place, you go at it, making sure that you’re doing everything possible to stay right on track to what you’ve designed.
Sadly, this iron-will determination may be just what causes you to fail to see the success that you’re going for with your diet program.
If the truth is told, you’ll see far superior results by altering the rep ranges as you go about the program, not only in terms of workout to workout but also in terms of within the same workout as well.
Let’s have a closer look at why you should vary your rep ranges so that you can learn for yourself why this is so critical to success.
It Allows You To Work Across Different Elements Of Your Fitness Level
The very first reason why you should be working across different rep ranges is because the rep ranges are a key component of what determines what type of fitness gains you receive.
The lower rep range is going to help to ensure that you are making terrific strength progress from your workout session, while the higher rep range is going to be ideal for increasing your degree of muscular endurance.
By working across both rep ranges like this, you ensure that you target both areas for the most well-rounded level of fitness possible.
It Enhances The Progress That You Make
The second reason to work across a variety of different rep ranges is because it will also enhance the amount of progress that you make. If you’re only ever sticking to just one rep range and never try and push the barrier to take that range higher, how fast will you be progressing?
Part of the trick to seeing ongoing progress is always challenging your body and if you have it in your mind that you must always just use one rep range, you won’t be moving forward.
If you feel like you can do more reps, be sure to do so.
It Keeps You More Mentally Stimulated
Finally, the last reason why using a variety of rep ranges is important for success is because it will keep you more mentally stimulated as well.
Those who perform the same workout over and over again are going to be quick to get bored, but by changing it up you’ll help avoid this.
So make sure that you are adding some variety into your workout program. Anywhere between six to fifteen reps can be beneficial for certain elements of fitness improvement so don’t neglect any of these ranges.
